DATA
SSCAFCA's jurisdiction is divided into ten watersheds: Calabacillas [CA], Black [BL], Montoyas [MO], Barranca [BA], Venada [VE], Corrales East [CE], Corrales West [CW], Unnamed Arroyo [UN], Unnamed Wash [UW], Rio Rancho City Center [RC], NM 528 and Zia. Storm Monitor stations are located within nine of these watersheds (Corrales East, Corrales West, Black, Venada, Barranca, Rio Rancho City Center, Calabacillas, Montoyas, and Unnamed Arroyo) and data logging stations are in five ( Calabacillas, Corrales East, Venada, Barranca, Rio Rancho City Center). The above map indicates the locations of the storm monitor stations (black ink) and the data logging stations (red ink). Below are representative data collected by storm monitor stations and data logging stations.
Each Storm Monitor station and Data Logging station are assigned a unique number by SSCAFCA. (Example: 34 CE 02R; The first two numbers indicate the map section where the station is located, the next two letters are the watershed, and the last two numbers and letter are the location of the station with respect to specific arroyo management plans).*
September saw the most rainfall with an average throughout the jurisdiction of 2.2 inches. The highest monthly total in September was recorded at storm monitor station 34 CE 01R (2.68 inches) with the lowest for that month at storm monitor station 13 VE 01R (1.71 inches). The station with the highest average rainfall was at station 34 CE 03R (1.26 inches. however that was only for the three months of Aug., Sept., and Oct.) and the station with the lowest average was 17 MO 01R (.46 inches). Averages were used in an attempt to find a common ground for comparison since the number of recordings varied station to station. These numbers will become more comparable over time as the number of recordings increase.
