Construction Begins on the Sunset Pond and Aldaba Storm Drain Project
Southern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (SSCAFCA) is pleased to announce the construction of the Sunset Pond and Aldaba Storm Drain Project, a component of the Black Arroyo Watershed Management Plan. Salls Brothers Construction Inc. was awarded the bid to construct the $2,600,000 project. SSCAFCA has completed all design work, right-of-way acquisition, and coordination with underground utilities. The project is anticipated to be complete by December 2008.
This location was selected in the upper portion of the watershed to protect downstream lands from flooding. In addition, a storm drain that will flow into the Sunset pond will be constructed in Aldaba Circle to prevent roadway erosion as experienced during the 2006 monsoon season. The project design also incorporates recreational and aesthetic amenities. This project is financed by funds approved in the bond election of 2006.
Please be patient as we construct this very important flood protection facility. The design plans can be reviewed at the SSCAFCA office and any questions answered by calling SSCAFCA at 892-RAIN (7246).
